Winter Self-Care

If you feel low on energy this winter, it’s a sign of your body that you have to slow down and find inner peace. Embrace the feelings winter awaken in you and practise some self-care without feeling guilty. Remember that you deserve to take care of yourself. Winter is the perfect timing to recharge and replenish before spring arrives. Don’t force anything and don’t be too hard on yourself!

When you take care of yourself, listen to your body. Do you need more sleep? Do you crave specific types of food? Do you need to exercise? Find balance in your daily routine and, above all, be gentle with yourself.

Self-care tips:

1. Go outside for a walk and enjoy nature. Nature is important for charging your battery and going outside also allows you to get enough sunlight. A lack of sunlight (and with that a lack of vitamin D) can make you feel tired and melancholic.

2. Eat healthily. When it’s cold we crave more warm and savoury foods. Don’t forget that your body needs enough proteins to warm up when it’s cold outside. Also, make sure to eat enough fruits and vegetables to boost your immune system. Lastly, don’t forget to drink enough water.

3. Stay warm! When your body cools down too fast, it can lead to fatigue and other health problems.

4. Get enough sleep. It’s normal to need more sleep in winter due to cold weather and lack of sunlight. Try to sleep at least 8 hours, so your body and mind can fully recover.
